Breaking News: Clint Hurdle out as Pirates’ manager

Heading into the final game of the 2019 season that found the Pirates collapse to 69-92 record, including 25-47 since the All-Star break, the team has announced that field manager Clint Hurdle has been relieved of his duties.

Hired before the 2011 season, through nine years the 62 year old Hurdle accumulated the fourth most wins ever as a Pirates’ skipper. He led the team to Wild Card berths each year from 2013 to 2015, but never won the division. In the four seasons since the Pirates’ last post-season appearance, the team has finished third, fourth, fourth and fifth among the five teams in the National League Central.
