BRADENTON, Fla. — Steven Brault is a man of many talents, with throwing a baseball 93 mph and making music among them. On display Tuesday was a subtler one: his deadpan humor.
He employed it when answering a question about a possible increase in his fastball velocity (“I’m trying as hard as I possibly can”) and again when asked about competing with offseason throwing partner and roommate Trevor Williams for a rotation spot.
“I set up our house like ‘Home Alone,’” Brault said, “but he hasn’t fallen for any of them yet.”
Williams and Brault, both 24, both pitched against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday.
