Bell drives in lone run in loss as Taillon falters

Billy Hamilton was halfway to a cycle, with a triple and a home run, by the second inning. Jesse Winker hit his first Major League homer in the fourth inning. Joey Votto, Adam Duvall, Scooter Gennett and Eugenio Suarez combined to finish 7-for-17 with four RBIs. Suarez punctuated the night with a solo shot off reliever Jhan Marinez. It was more than enough to back up Homer Bailey, who held the Pirates to just one run on four hits in six innings.

The Pirates lost for the seventh time in their last 10 games and fell farther out of the National League Central race, now sitting six games behind the division-leading Cubs.
