PITTSBURGH -- Snow flurries? Another first pitch below 40 degrees? Not a problem for Josh Bell.
Bell crushed his first home run of the season against Twins right-hander Jake Odorizzi in the first inning on a frigid Wednesday night along the Allegheny River. The two-run shot bounced halfway up the batter's eye at PNC Park, giving Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead.
The temperature at first pitch was 39 degrees with winds gusting toward left field. Snow came and went all day in Pittsburgh, keeping the Pirates inside for batting practice.
