Josh Bell has moved into the “general election” phase of the All-Star Game voting.
Bell is one three finalists to be the National League’s first baseman along with the Braves’ Freddie Freeman and the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo. The game will be played July 9 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Major League Baseball revamped the voting process. The first round of voting was called the “primary election” and the top three vote getters at each position except outfield advanced to the “general election.” The top nine outfielders also advanced.
Freeman led the “primary” balloting with 2,214,793 votes.
