The Pirates on Tuesday activated lefty Antonio Bastardo from the 10-day disabled list, where he had spent more than two months because of a strained left quadriceps.
Bastardo allowed a run in each of his six appearances, including multiple runs in three of them, and seven walks to go with four homers in 62/3 innings before going on the DL. In 12 games on his rehab assignment with Class AAA Indianapolis, he allowed five runs, four earned, 11 hits and eight walks in 111/3 innings. In his final rehab outing Sunday, he threw 36 pitches without completing an inning, allowing a hit, a run, a walk and a hit batter.
