MIAMI — Barry Bonds understands the way you probably felt about him. And he’s sorry about that.
In an enlightening interview with SportsOnEarth columnist Terence Moore, Bonds — baseball’s career home run leader now working as the Miami Marlins hitting coach — opened up about his regrets and his public perception. He said he was to blame for the way he was portrayed.
Bonds admitted he was a “monster,” at times, and a “dumbass,” too.
“I was just flat-out dumb,” Bonds told Moore. “What can I say? I'm not going to try to justify the way I acted toward people.
