Bailey Falter has been a welcomed surprise for the 2024 Pittsburgh Pirates.
The man who allowed five runs before recording an out in Miami and was booed at the home opener now holds the distinction of being one of baseball’s best starting pitchers.
It’s a turnaround no one could have seen coming. Maybe the Pirates did, but they couldn’t have expected anything like this.
Falters owns a 2.81 ERA in 54.1 innings during April and May. He’s allowed 17 runs and will close the calendar on May, starting Friday night against Toronto.
In five April starts, Falter gave up nine runs on 18 hits and only walked four batters.
