Archer leaves game with hip injury

MILWAUKEE -- Chris Archer was removed from Friday night’s game against the Brewers at Miller Park after four innings because of left hip discomfort.

Archer came out after just 67 pitches. The Pirates right-hander allowed two runs – both in the first inning – and three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

While it was not immediately clear how Archer was injured, it could have happened in the fourth inning when he struck out swinging with the bases loaded and two outs.
