DENVER -- The Rockies finally broke the two-run barrier against the Pirates after Pittsburgh lost 2-0 to Colorado on Monday and won 10-2 on Tuesday, but the three runs the Bucs' pitchers allowed Wednesday couldn't keep them from securing a 4-3 victory to win the rubber match and take the series at Coors Field.
Newly acquired Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer fared far better in his second start for his new team than in last week's debut. Archer lasted 4 1/3 innings against the Cardinals Friday, giving up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out six.
