Archer fans 6, but chased in 5th in Bucs debut

PITTSBURGH -- For all the buzz around PNC Park on Friday night, Chris Archer didn't dominate in his Pirates debut. But he still found a way to energize the crowd at times.

Archer allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out six over 4 1/3 innings in his Pittsburgh debut against the Cardinals on Friday, three days after the Rays dealt him to the Bucs before the non-waiver Trade Deadline. Archer wasn't particularly sharp, but Pirates fans nonetheless expressed their support for him -- and their appreciation to have him on board -- with a standing ovation as he left the game in the fifth inning.
