I guess as they say, desperate times call for desperate measures can pertain to the situation that potentially is unfolding within the Pirates organization right now. With it revealed yesterday that veteran third baseman Aramis Ramirez would be practicing first base this weekend, it is clear that the Pirates are looking at the position of first base as a critical spot right now, and will do anything possible to upgrade the position.
Pedro Alvarez, clearly hasn't been able to get it over there this season. While he has certainly tried hard, (not too hard though, as he refused to play winter ball to sharpen his skillset at the new position), the fundamentals of the position are just not clicking for him.
