Andy Barkett announced on Twitter on Saturday afternoon that he is joining the Boston Red Sox coaching staff. Barkett spent this last season managing the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple-A farm team of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He led them to the playoffs, winning the International League West division with a 79-63 record.
Before that he was the minor league hitting coordinator for the Pirates. He also played for the Pirates in 2001, which was his lone appearance in the majors during an 11-year pro career. Barkett has nine years of managerial experience in the minors....
