Bucs left fielder Starling Marte entered the record books in the win, going 4-for-5 to finish with 13 hits the series and tie for the most knocks in a four-game set in Pirates history. Marte shares the record with Pie Traynor, who recorded 13 hits from Aug. 2-4, 1928.
Pittsburgh scraped together a run in the first and fifth innings before erupting in the eighth. With one out in the eighth, Marte and Neil Walker singled to center and left, respectively, before reliever Jairo Diaz struck out Jordy Mercer. Alvarez followed with his 26th homer on a 2-1 offering.
