A.J. Schugel to begin rehab assignment, Bryan Reynolds visits a hand surgeon

CHICAGO — Right-hander A.J. Schugel, who is on the 10-day disabled list because of a strained right shoulder, will begin a rehab assignment with Class A Bradenton Thursday, director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said.

There is no timetable for Joe Musgrove to begin throwing off a mound.

“We’ve only had him play catch on flat ground twice from 75 feet,” Tomczyk said. “I think that still needs to manifest itself. Maybe by the end of this road trip we’ll have a better idea.”

Musgrove, who is on the 10-day DL because of a strained right shoulder, threw Monday and Tuesday and said he planned to rest Wednesday before throwing again Thursday.
