Peoria came into Saturday afternoon’s game with a 6-8 record. They were on the road in Mesa, taking on the 7-7 Solar Sox. Nick Gonzales was hitting lead-off and playing second base in this game. He was the only Pittsburgh Pirates player in the starting lineup.
Gonzales singled to start the game, then scored one batter later on a sacrifice fly, after former Pirates prospect Conner Loeprich threw two wild pitches to get Gonzales to third base. He singled on a grounder up the middle in the second inning. He lined out to second base in the fourth, then flew out to center field in the fifth.
