It was just three weeks ago Sunday that Pirates general manager Neal Huntington was asked during his weekly meeting with reporters to justify keeping Jung Ho Kang on the major league roster after the infielder got off to a slow start in limited April playing time. Since then, Kang has been one of the team’s best players. With a handful of starts under his belt of late, his OPS is up to a robust .898, and he’s been a steady hand in the field to boot.
Now, it’s Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer — Kang’s chief competition for playing time — who are drawing the ire of the masses.
