There was a lot to be irritated about in this game – the Pirates had numerous chances to give themselves a lot more breathing room and cruise to a win….but some awful baserunning and a failure to score on a bases-loaded/no-out situation limited the offense to two runs. One came immediately, mostly thanks to the speed of Polanco and Marte, and the other came on this monster Pedro Alvarez blast:
It didn’t matter, though, because Charlie Morton is killing it right now. Four starts, four wins. The control was there, the efficiency was there (he pitched into the eighth), the strikeouts were even there (sort of a rarity for him)….
