On more than one occasion during the first half of the season things looked bleak for the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, through all of the injuries, ineffectiveness, losing streaks, and frustration, the team enters Major League Baseball’s All-Star Break on a high note.
After winning a weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Pirates find themselves owning a 44-45 record at the All-Star Break. While a sub-.500 record is not great, the Bucs are just 2.5 games out of first place in the NL Central and of the second NL Wild Card spot.
This was the team’s first series victory of the season against the Brewers.
