The Pittsburgh Pirates are doing everything in their power to offload first baseman Pedro Alvarez before the July 31st MLB Trade Deadline, per a report by Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan:
One other guy whose name is everywhere: Pedro Alvarez. Said one GM: "Pirates want to get rid of him. They're offering him to everybody."

Per FanGraphs.com, Alvarez is the worst defensive first baseman in the Majors in 2015. He's not exactly making up for it with his bat either, hitting just .235 despite providing some measure of product with 14 home runs and 47 runs batted in.
With the Pirates making their desire to move Alvarez so well known, several insiders speculate that Pittsburgh would be willing to part with him for peanuts compared to the value he would have commanded as recent as last year.
