The Pittsburgh Pirates officially signed talented Korean infielder Jung-ho Kang to a four-year, $11 million contract on Friday, which included a $5.5 million club option for 2019 accompanied by a $1 million buyout.

As the first player to make it to the Majors from the KBO, Kang is aware of just how big this moment is, not only for him, but for an entire nation of baseball players back in South Korea.
"As the first position player to make it here from the KBO, I think I am a pioneer of sorts," Kang said through a translator, via SB Nation. "I would like to do well here and open up big league opportunities for younger players at home."
