The Pittsburgh Pirates are closing in on a multi-year contract with celebrated Korean shortstop Jung-ho Kang, sources tell Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Per Heyman, "the sides have been talking about a four-year deal for the power-hitting infielder who had a monster year for the Nexen Heroes last year, hitting 40 home runs and batting .356 in 117 games. Both sides appear intent on getting a deal done."

Kang has said to be seeking a four-year pact in the neighborhood of $5 million a year, and the Pirates are said to be willing to go that length for that cost with their interest in the former Korean star being extremely strong.
"At this point, I feel confident we'll come to an agreement," Kang's agent, Alan Nero, recently said to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "The process has been very positive."
