NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mike Sullivan made it clear before the season started that the Penguins would not be able to get through the entire year with just the seven defensemen that started the season on the NHL roster.
Still, to be the eighth man on the depth chart — and thus the odd man out — wasn’t necessarily fun for David Warsofsky.
True to Sullivan’s word, though, Warsofsky will get his chance tonight when the Penguins take on Nashville. The Penguins called up Warsofsky Saturday to take Derrick Pouliot’s place in the lineup.
Sullivan characterized Pouliot’s injury — sustained in Thursday’s 3-2 win against San Jose — as “longer-term lower body.
