RALEIGH, N.C. — The first question Tom Kuhnhackl got after his long morning skate Friday morning at PNC Arena was whether or not he was sober.
“I cannot talk about that in front of the cameras,” Kuhnhackl joked (probably). “You can ask me later.”
Either way, Kuhnhackl had good reason to indulge in a German beer Friday morning if he so chose. He had just watched his countrymen upset Team Canada in the men’s hockey semifinals of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, securing Germany’s first-ever appearance in an Olympic gold-medal game.
Kuhnhackl set an alarm to make sure he was up for the 7:10 a.
