The Penguins’ power play is on track to make NHL history

The oldest team in the NHL is on track to potentially set another league standard this season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins failed to score on three power play opportunities during Friday night’s 3-1 loss to the Florida Panthers, including a late shot at a 6-on-4 with the potential to tie the game.

On the Penguins’ last 37 attempts, the power play is now 0-for-37.

According to Florida Hockey Now’s George Richards, the reported record for the most consecutive power plays without a goal is 0-for-51, a standard set by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
