Last week news broke that the Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed young star Jake Guentzel for a five year contract extension that will kick in for the 2019-20 season at an annual rate of $6.0 million per season.
The overall consensus from the fans seems to be well-received as a fair contract for a skill player over what should be the most productive years of his career. Guentzel has been an incredible bargain, as he’s been a top-6 player for the Pens for basically 2.5 of the three seasons of his entry-level deal with a salary cap hit of just $734,167.
