Can we please stop with the idea that Phil Kessel was in some sort of slump?
Kessel had gone all of three games before scoring a huge goal Wednesday in the Penguins’ 5-0 win over the Flyers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
Before that, Kessel scored four times in four games to close the regular season, including two against Columbus to lock down home ice in the opening round. Kessel having one point through three games was hardly a reason to freak out.
And we know this: Even if many Penguins fans found themselves asking when Kessel would introduce himself to this playoff series, the one guy who certainly wasn’t panicking out was the man himself.
