Over the past few weeks some trends have been developing in the Metropolitan Division. Carolina has been moving up the ranks, while Washington has been caught by the pack. Philadelphia and the NY Islanders have hung tough but Pittsburgh and New Jersey are trying to rise up the ranks and catch them.
As a result, the middle is a jumbled mess. Only four points separate five teams from third place Philadelphia to seventh place Pittsburgh. These two teams meet tomorrow night and could be as close as two points or as far away as six after that game.
