When the second period of Wednesday’s game started, pretty much everyone still paying attention at PPG Paints Arena expected Matt Murray to replace Marc-Andre Fleury in goal for the Penguins.
It didn’t happen.
Coach Mike Sullivan said he met with his coaches between periods, and they thought it would be better for Fleury to remain in goal, that they’d try to fight out of this one together.
You know the result: Blackhawks 5, Penguins 1. The first four-game losing skid since Sullivan started here. A clunker of a game.
