The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ playoff schedule this past spring worked out where most off-days coincided with the NHL Penguins’ games, and many of the players on the AHL team couldn’t help but watch.
The Stanley Cup run was especially rewarding for Tom Kostopoulos, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s captain and a mentor to players such as Bryan Rust, Conor Sheary and Tom Kuhnhackl, among countless others.
Kostopoulos felt a sense of pride in watching them hoist the Cup.
“It was cool to see how much of an impact guys that started with us last year had in Pittsburgh,” Kostopoulos said. “We all felt part of it.
