The Penguins lifted the Stanley Cup on Sunday, June 11 in Nashville. Four days later, Daniel Sprong was back in Montreal, working out to prepare for the 2017-18 season.
"I was pretty excited to get into things," Sprong said.
For good reason, too.
If Sprong seems a little over-eager, it's coming from a good place.
When Penguins development camp begins Wednesday at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, Sprong will be the focal point. He's the organization's top offensive prospect and has a legitimate shot at winning a top-nine spot.
Not only that, Sprong was injured at this time last summer, having had surgery on his right shoulder.
