The Penguins open the preseason on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres at Penn State’s Pegula Ice Arena.
Don’t expect a bunch of marquee names.
For one, coach Mike Sullivan has yet to do anything with special teams through four days of training camp.
Secondly, there are seven preseason games ... about four too many. The Penguins, who’ve played 213 games the past two seasons, will be just fine easing into this thing.
“There will be a fair amount of kids,” Sullivan said. “There will be a fair amount of young guys. We’re trying to give them opportunities to play their game.
