As expected, Pittsburgh Penguins fans turned out in force for the city’s Stanley Cup victory parade Wednesday. Driving, using public transportation and bikes, they came toting signs, cup replicas and even bringing a “lucky couch” Downtown.
For most of us, this is just normal behavior, the standard for a city used to celebrating its sports champions.
So forgive Penguins coach Mike Sullivan, who arrived only in December to straighten out the struggling hockey team. As he looked out over the masses from the celebration stage at Stanwix Street and the Boulevard of the Allies, he had this thought:
“This is one crazy sports town!
