It took nearly a year, but Jim Rutherford is back in the game.
Rutherford has been named president and interim GM in Vancouver, where GM Jim Benning and coach Travis Green were fired early this week.
Rutherford resigned as GM of the Penguins in January and eventually was replaced by Ron Hextall.
He had returned to North Carolina, where he had a long run as GM of the Hurricanes, earlier this year, and had made no secret of his desire to get a front-office position with another club after he left the Penguins.
