TORONTO — Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford offered a few injury updates on his radio show Wednesday night.
Speaking to host Josh Getzoff on 105.9 FM, Rutherford said Evgeni Malkin, who has missed the past four games with an upper-body injury, should return “soon.”
“I believe he’ll be back soon,” Rutherford told Getzoff. “Hopefully this weekend.”
The Penguins play in Buffalo on Friday and at home against the Sabres on Saturday.
Malkin has skated on his own before practice three times but has yet to join the team in an official capacity since he left the lineup.
