Rutherford: Business as usual for Penguins, even with possible sale

Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford likely was one of the first people to learn that majority owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle would explore the possibility of selling part of their stake in the franchise.

That doesn’t mean he knows how things are going to play out at the highest levels of the organization in coming days and weeks.

Or that he’s likely to spend much time pondering it.

“I’m far removed from anything related to what they’re trying to do,” Rutherford said Friday.

Besides, there is plenty to keep Rutherford and his staff busy, and they are immersed in a lengthy to-do list.
