Ron Cook: Remaining Penguins defensemen keep holding the fort in Game 2 victory

It was remarkable that the Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators Monday night without first-line winger Bryan Rust and top defenseman Justin Schultz for most of the game.

It will be miraculous if they go on to win the series — let alone the Stanley Cup — unless Schultz makes a fast recovery.

The Penguins evened the series at one game apiece with their 1-0 win, getting their goal from Phil Kessel at 13:05 of the third period. Who says there is no such thing as the heart of a champion? The Penguins have one. They aren’t the defending Cup champions by accident.
