Robert Morris Upsets No. 8 UMass-Lowell, Captures Three Rivers Classic Title

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The fourth-annual Three Rivers Classic culminated on Tuesday night at CONSOL Energy Center with the Robert Morris Colonials crowned champions after downing UMass-Lowell in the championship game, 5-3.

The Colonials’ best player all tournament and all season – forward Zac Lynch – was named the tournament’s most valuable player in addition to being named to the All-Tournament Team.

The six players listed below received All-Tournament Team honors:

F Troy Josephs – Clarkson

F Adam Chapie – UMass-Lowell

F Zac Lynch – Robert Morris

D Luke Juha – Penn State

D Michael Kapla – UMass-Lowell

G Terry Shafer – Robert Morris

Born and raised in Shaler Township just north of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris’ Zac Lynch has blossomed into one of the nation’s finest offensive point producers, and his talents were on full display Monday and Tuesday nights.
