Recap: Pens give up too many breakaways, lose to Flyers

It all started so good for the Pittsburgh Penguins. First shift, 39 seconds in Jake Guentzel fed Sidney Crosby on an odd man rush and the Pens were on the board.

But it wouldn’t last. Five minutes later Travis Konecny got a breakaway and beat Casey DeSmith.

In the second period Riley Sheahan made a power move off the wall to the middle and lifted a nice shot over Anthony Stolarz. But that was the last the Pens would score.

A minute later some smart cross-ice passes beat the Pens for Claude Giroux to one time a puck in to tie the game.
