Recap: Flyers hang around long enough to beat the Penguins 2-1 (shootout)

Jeff Carter makes his Pittsburgh debut and the Penguins elect to dress Mark Jankowski over Radim Zohorna up front.

First period

Uneventful first, to put it kindly. Pittsburgh doesn’t record a shot on goal until 15 minutes in when Brian Dumoulin, of all people, gets behind the defense and gets a crack at it.

The Pens have two power plays in the period, without doing much, the Flyers get a power play of their own and similarly don’t create a lot.

Overall, it looks like the Pens have been off since Sunday and Philadelphia doesn’t look very sharp themselves.
