Rangers knock Penguins out of series, ending a long season

NEW YORK -- The Penguins played their best game of the postseason tonight at Madison Square Garden, but will exit the playoffs after a 2-1 overtime loss to the New York Rangers.

The President’s Trophy winning Rangers entered game with a 3-1 series lead and with Carl Hagelin’s goal at 10:52 of overtime, ended the Penguins season.

The Penguins trailed 1-0 until a late second period goal by Nick Spaling, then created another dozen chances in the ensuing period and got a remarkable number of saves from goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.
