Including Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins have 22 games remaining in the 2024-25 regular season.
Aside from what it means for draft lottery positioning (and they could mean a lot!), these games will be meaningless.
Or at least as close to meaningless as a professional game can be.
They are nine points out of a wild card spot while almost every team ahead of them has multiple games in hand remaining. They are not going to the playoffs unless they do something crazy like go 20-2-0 the rest of the way.
