It’s a good thing for the guacamole.
Penguins defenseman Derrick Pouliot said Friday he had an awakening during his rookie season with the Penguins, and he has committed to entering training camp with better stamina, strength and overall fitness.
That has meant working out with former Penguin Gary Roberts this summer in Toronto and getting an education in the kitchen, where he has changed his diet fairly drastically. He avoids restaurants, cooks at home and focuses on high protein meals with healthy fruits and vegetables.
“It’s your career. You’ve got to take it seriously and that’s one of the first steps,” said Pouliot after the Penguins wrapped up the fourth day of development camp at Consol Energy Center.
