Postgame impressions: A special honor for Sidney Crosby

Sidney Crosby achieved one milestone, but missed another by a hair.

The Penguins captain played all 82 games of the 2017-18 regular season for the first time in his career. In fact, before Friday’s 4-0 win over Ottawa, neither Crosby nor Mario Lemieux had ever accomplished that feat.

Turns out Crosby had played in 80 and 81 games twice each but never suited up for every single Penguins game of a regular season.

That little factoid prompted a humorous exchange with Crosby, who was unaware he had never gone 82 for 82.

“I may have hit 81 a couple times,” Crosby said.
