Poor starts gaining attention after Game 3 loss

OTTAWA, Ontario — Bad bounces were a factor for the Penguins early on during a 5-1 loss Wednesday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final.

They were hardly the only one, however, as the Senators scored four times on nine shots in 12:52, chasing Marc-Andre Fleury and whipping Canadian Tire Centre into a frenzy.

Saying the Penguins had a wretched start is fair. Chalking it up to bad bounces or a poor performance from Fleury, however, is not.

Fleury was fine. Some of the bounces were unfortunate, but several players postgame took issue with that line of thinking.
