It’s kind of unheralded for there to be optimism surrounding the Penguins after a playoff loss, but hanging with the Rangers the way they did in Game 1 wasn’t expected either. Outside of a start that couldn’t have been worse and the parade of dumb penalties, the Pens actually played one of their best games in months. A lot of the people who were saying the Rangers would blow the Pens away in five or less games are now changing their tune.
