PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation’s Tablets in Education program has completed its second year for providing the latest in tablet technology for elementary school students in Allegheny County and the surrounding communities.
To date, over 2,700 tablets have been provided for elementary schools enrolled in this innovative high-tech program, more than doubling the number of units during the program’s first year. In addition, over 65 apps with an emphasis on education are also available through the Tablets in Education program.
In 2014, the program was created with the assistance of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU3) and over 1,200 Kindle Fire HDX 7 tablets were distributed to local schools during the program’s first year.
