The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is donating $10,000 to each of the families of two fallen police officers in the Western Pennsylvania area.
Ligonier Township police Lt. Eric Eslary was killed in a head-on collision on May 5 when a van travelling on the wrong side of the road hit Eslary’s SUV on Route 22 near Idlewild Park. Eslary’s K-9 partner, Blek, was also injured in the crash.
Eslary leaves behind his wife, Mary Beth, and six children.
Detective Paul “PJ” Koropal , an investigator from the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office, died in the line of duty after falling ill while serving search warrants on May 5.
