BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Pirates made their first formal batch of spring training cuts Tuesday, re-assigning four players to their minor-league camp.
Infielder Liover Peguero was optioned to minor-league camp since he is on the 40 man roster, while first baseman Malcom Nuñez and right-handed pitchers Kyle Nicolas and Jared Jones were re-assigned to the other camp.
Peguero, the team's No. 7 prospect according to Baseball America, went 4-for-14 at the plate this spring with four RBIs and a stolen base, usually as a mid-game replacement.
This 2023 season is shaping up to be an important one for Peguero after an up and down season with Class AA Altoona last season where he hit .
