Amid the Sidney Crosby tour de force, the Phil Kessel breakout and the Matt Murray shutout, we saw the Stanley Cup final turn into a little bit of a backyard brawl during a 6-0 Penguins victory in Game 5 Thursday at PPG Paints Arena.
The teams combined for 24 penalties that totaled 100 minutes. Carl Hagelin and Chris Kunitz fought Viktor Arvidsson and Yannick Weber, respectively. Evgeni Malkin essentially sparred with Roman Josi.
And with 30 seconds to go, the ugliest event occurred: Colton Sissons cross-checking Olli Maatta in the face. Sissons picked up a match penalty, which means that Sissons is suspended until the league rules otherwise.
